Here are two videos from Nikki Gregg that were made for TEVA.com. These tips are especially useful if you are just starting out with Stand Up Paddling.
If you would like to do some sea sweeping of your own, come into Wet Feet and ask us about our Eco Bags! Bags that are designed to carry trash that you pick up while you are out stand up paddling.
For the past two weeks, I have been helping Nikki Gregg film her new Stand Up Paddle Fitness video. I think this video will be really useful to those paddlers out there who appreciate the fitness aspect of Stand Up. I asked Nikki what one of her favorite exercises that can be done to improve someone’s paddling, and this is what she gave me….
Begin in a plank position on your stand up board out on the water. Make sure that you are centered in the middle of the board so that you don’t rock from side to side.
Keeping your shoulders, hips and toes in line, bring your right knee up to touch your right arm. Keep your back nice and straight and use your abdominal muscles to do the work for you.
Return your right leg to the starting position, and then repeat the exercise with your left leg. Repeat this for 30 second to 1 minute intervals to strengthen your core!
